TPCA to produce Yaris for Toyota at Kolin Plant

□           Production of Yaris will come in addition to the AYGO model for Toyota

□           Hybrid and petrol versions

□           Timing and volumes to be announced in the future

Ovcary, January 14, 2020 – TPCA announced today that it plans to add production of the Toyota Yaris in the future, in addition to its current production.  The timing of start of production, investment, and future volumes will be announced later.

The addition of a second Toyota model at the plant will further secure stable activity and employment at the plant.  The Toyota Yaris will continue to be produced at its original home plant, Toyota Motor Manufacturing France (TMMF), in parallel.

“With this new model, we will introduce new technology at TPCA, including the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) and hybrid production and bring additional Toyota production volume to the Kolin plant,” said Johan van Zyl, President and CEO of TME.

TPCA, a joint-venture between Groupe PSA and Toyota, is home to the compact city cars Toyota AYGO, Peugeot 108 and Citroen C1 since 2005. In November 2018, the two mother companies of TPCA announced that Toyota would take full ownership of the plant from January 1st, 2021 but continue to produce vehicles for the three brands after that date.

“Adding Yaris, including producing hybrid for the first time, to our future production for Toyota is very good news for TPCA, our future production prospects, and all our team members,” said Koreatsu Aoki, President of TPCA. “We look forward to this exciting new challenge.”
